Women’s Ministry at Rawls Baptist Church
Gather for devotional time, prayer, and practical mission work that serves people in our community and beyond. Adult women and visitors are welcome.
Women Serving Through Missions
Women’s Ministry at Rawls is also known as Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). Prayer, devotional time, and practical service bring the group together as women consider how to care for others and support missions.
The group tries to support or carry out a mission emphasis or project each month. Women from Fuquay-Varina and nearby communities are welcome to join a monthly meeting and learn about the work taking place.
Women looking for a weekly Bible study can also join the women’s Sunday School class each Sunday morning.
What Happens at a WMU Meeting
- A Brief Devotional
- Meetings usually begin with a very short devotional before the group turns to mission opportunities.
- Mission Opportunities
- Women discuss needs and opportunities to serve, considering a mission emphasis or project for the month.
- Prayer Together
- Meetings close in prayer, bringing the group’s time together to a thoughtful conclusion.
Where We Meet
Women’s Ministry meets in the Fellowship Hall at Rawls Baptist Church. The room is easy to reach from the main parking area.
Missions in Action
Community needs may be brought forward by church members. The group also considers monthly mission suggestions from the Little River Baptist Association as women look for practical ways to serve locally and beyond.
Past projects have included gift bags for local nursing home residents, care boxes for local firefighters, and coloring and activity books for hospitalized children.
The group has also provided backpacks for the Appalachian Coalfield ministry, adopted a family in need for Christmas, and offered financial support for Baptist missionaries. These examples reflect the different ways women at Rawls have responded to needs through missions.
Monthly Meeting
Adult women and visitors are welcome to attend. Meetings usually last about one hour, with time for a short devotional, mission discussion, and prayer. No meal is served.
