The name "Velos" comes from the Greek word for "arrow," reflecting Psalm 127's picture of children prepared with purpose.

Velos Classical Christian School is an independent Christian school that operates on the campus of Rawls Baptist Church. Through this partnership, Rawls provides space and support while Velos partners with Christian families to provide a Christ-centered classical education.
While the church and school have distinct leadership and responsibilities, they share a common desire to encourage families, cultivate wisdom rooted in Scripture, and help the next generation grow in faith, character, and Christian discipleship.

Learning to Know, Reason, and Communicate
Velos follows the classical model of education through the three stages of the Trivium: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Each stage is intentionally designed to align with the natural development of children, allowing students to build knowledge, strengthen reasoning, and ultimately communicate truth with clarity and confidence.
The school currently serves students in the Grammar Stage, where children naturally excel at memorization and delight in learning through songs, chants, repetition, and rich language. These methods establish a lasting foundation across subjects while cultivating both retention and a genuine love of learning.
As students mature, the emphasis of classical education gradually shifts from acquiring knowledge to evaluating ideas, forming sound arguments, and communicating with wisdom. Throughout every stage, learning remains rooted in a Christ-centered biblical worldview that seeks to shape both the mind and the heart.
