Children & Families

Children & Families at Rawls Baptist Church

At Rawls, we want children to be known, cared for, and taught biblical truth as they take part in church life. Sunday children’s ministry, seasonal programs, and family events give children opportunities to learn and grow alongside their church family.

Helping Children Grow in Faith

Children’s ministry at Rawls helps children learn biblical truth in ways they can understand and take part in the life of the church. Bible lessons, music, activities, and time with caring adults help make those truths part of their growing experience of faith.

Families from Fuquay-Varina, Angier, and nearby communities are welcome. Whether you are visiting for the first time or looking for a church for your family, we can help you understand what Sunday mornings look like for children at Rawls.

Sunday Mornings for Children

Nursery care and Children’s Church are offered during Sunday Worship at 10:45 AM. First-time families may find it helpful to arrive around 10:30 AM.

Nursery Care

The nursery serves children from roughly birth through age 3 and is staffed throughout Sunday Worship. Parents with infants or toddlers can come to the Sanctuary before worship and let a greeter know they are visiting with children. Someone will explain the nursery arrangements.

Children’s Church

Children through about 5th grade stay with their families through the music portion of worship. After the music, children are dismissed for Children’s Church while parents remain in the Sanctuary. Volunteers help visiting families understand the process, and pickup instructions are explained in person.

Children’s Church is structured and supervised, with age-appropriate Bible learning. Depending on the week and the group, activities may include Bible lessons, lesson videos, guided games, and other ways to explore what they are learning.

Safety & Care

Children are supervised by screened volunteers. Everyone serving with children at Rawls must complete a background check, and documentation is kept on file. Staffing is adjusted based on the ages and number of children present.

If you are visiting with children, let a greeter know. Nursery arrangements, Children’s Church, and pickup procedures are explained in person so your family knows what to expect.

Backyard Bible Club

Backyard Bible Club is Rawls’ annual summer children’s ministry, usually held over several evenings in July, typically Monday through Wednesday. It is free to attend, and registration opens with the annual event listing.

Similar in spirit to Vacation Bible School (VBS), Backyard Bible Club presents Bible teaching in a fun, age-appropriate way through music, crafts, games, snacks, and themed activities. Themes and activities vary from year to year.

One evening may be a Water Night with a small pool, slide, and other water activities. The annual listing will share that year’s schedule and details.

Rawls Baptist Church Fall Festival

The Rawls Baptist Church Fall Festival is an annual free family event held on church property and open to the community.

Families can enjoy Trunk-or-Treat with decorated trunks and vehicles, candy, games, popcorn, free hot dogs, and family-friendly activities.

Coming Soon: Music & More

Music & More is a new Wednesday evening ministry being planned at Rawls Baptist Church for children ages 4 through 5th grade. It is planned for 6:30–7:30 PM alongside Wednesday Bible Study, giving children their own age-appropriate Bible and music experience while parents attend Bible study.

Children will use instruments and movement with classic Bible songs, learn Bible stories and biblical themes, memorize a monthly Bible verse, and make crafts connected to the music and themes. They will also learn biblical and seasonal songs, prepare for occasional church-service music specials, and enjoy snack time.

Music & More will meet at Rawls Baptist Church in a children’s classroom. Exact room details will be shared closer to launch.

Also on the Rawls Campus

Velos Classical Academy is a separate school operating on the Rawls Baptist Church campus. It is not part of Rawls’ Sunday children’s ministry. Its presence reflects the campus’s broader role in serving local families.
